Vintage Baby Shower Theme Ideas

vintage baby shower ideas

Absolutely darling Vintage Baby Shower Ideas. Planning the Vintage Shower theme is a snap with all these fabulous ideas. Ideas for baby shower cakes, invitations, favors, decor, and so much more.

You can go so many ways with this theme. Decide on an era that you want to do. Maybe you're wanting to do a more antique looking baby shower. Or maybe you want to keep the theme to a 50's feel.

I'll give you plenty of ideas to use for any Vintage baby shower of your choice.

Vintage Baby Shower Invitations

Making your own baby shower invitations is not that hard, but it is a little time consuming. If you have the time, this is a great theme to bring in that homemade feel.

Look at pictures and magazines of the time era that you are going for and take ideas and your color scheme from them.

Embellish your invites with lace, ribbon, vintage clipart, and buttons for a truly vintage feel.

Vintage Baby Shower Decorations

Your decorations for this theme are going to be based on what era you want your vintage baby shower to go. You'll need to scour flea markets, garage sales, and antique stores for unique vintage baby items.

Pretty, soft, feminine colors are best for this theme. In days of old, a woman didn't know the sex of her baby, so colors were normally pastel yellow and greens.

Most modern women know if she is having a boy or a girl, so don't feel like you have to stick with yellow or green. Some other very elegant color combos are...

  • Cold Pink and White
  • Warm Pink and Cream
  • Light Blue and White
  • Robin's Egg Blue, Pink, and Cream
  • Lavender and Soft Yellow
  • Pink and Mint Green
  • Periwinkle and Sage Green
  • Sage Green and Cream

Storks were used a lot, so bring in a stork here and there.

For a more Victorian feel, use lace table cloths, tea sets, and lots of flowers. As well as old baby toys, carriages, clothes, furniture, and shoes.

Your centerpieces should be flowers. Roses are always a nice touch at a Victorian shower. Add a bow with a pacifier hanging from it to bring in the baby element. You can also place old baby books, baby shoes, antique baby bottles, or toys on the table.

For a 50's feel, use baby items that were of that time. Dolls can be used as decor. Vintage baby planters are a fun way to bring in that vintage feel as well.

You can put flowers in them, but you can also put baby items or food.

Banners are a nice addition for a Vintage baby theme. Make them out of scrapbook paper and supplies that look aged. Hang over the main shower table.

Vintage Baby Shower Games

Games should be quite and mostly things that you can do sitting down. Here are some that would work great for this theme...

Baby Items

Have the guests write as many baby items as they can think of. The player who thinks up the most items, wins.

Name The Baby Animal

The players must write as many animals and their baby's names as they can think of. Some examples would include, dogs-puppies, cats-kittens, bear-cub, ect.

Baby Word Scramble

Prior to the baby shower, write a list of baby items, but scramble them up. The players must unscramble the baby items.

ABC Game

On a sheet of paper the players must write the abc's. Now they must list baby items for each of the letters.

Baby Memory Tray

Before the shower, prepare a tray with baby items on it. Items like...diaper, shoes, powder, clippers, bottle, rattle, pacifier, ect. At the start of the shower, show everyone the tray. Take the tray away and don't mention it for a while. Later on in the shower, give everyone a piece of paper and a pencil. The players must write down as many items as they can remember. The player with the most right answers, wins.

Vintage Baby Shower Cake Ideas

Your cake for this theme should be very soft and feminine. The gorgeous booties on the cake above fit this theme perfectly.

You may not be able to replicate the booties exactly, but you can do your own simple version. An easy way to make booties is to use marshmallows and icing.

The marshmallows are your bootie base. Two back to back and then one sitting on top. Secure with toothpicks. Now just take a star tip and cover the "booties" with icing. Add embellishments if so desired.

Place the booties on the cake and you're done. So easy! Remember to follow your color scheme.

Cupcakes would also be a great choice for this theme. Place cute little plastic dolls or roses on them. Or make vintage cupcake picks from scrapbook paper.

Vintage Baby Shower Food And Drink Ideas

For a Victorian vintage tea party shower, serve all your food on pretty china plates and cake plates. Finger foods and tiny sandwiches are great choices for a tea party shower.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

  • Strawberries dipped in chocolate
  • Scones
  • Clotted cream
  • Jam

  • Iced raspberry tea

And don't forget the lemon, cream, sugar cubes, and honey to put in the tea.

I large cucumber peeled and sliced thin

Cut up cucumber. Sprinkle with Celtic sea salt. Let drain in colander for 1 hour. Spread butter and garlic on bread. Coat cucumber slices with lemon juice and olive oil. Pepper to taste. Place on bread.

If you are going more with the 50's theme, then use retro plates from that era and tablecloths in colorful prints.

Baby Petit Fours are a perfect way to bring in a vintage baby shower 50's feel.

The tea menu above works for this theme as well. Ladies of this time era were still into making everything pretty and feminine.

Aprons were very popular as well, so wear a pretty vintage one for the shower to really give everyone that "50's" feel.
