Sports Baby Shower Theme

Invitations for this theme are a piece of cake. For homemade invites, just cut out the shape of a football, soccer ball, basketball, golf ball, baseball, or any other sports ball.

Sports related party ware is really easy to find and it usually can be used for a baby shower as well as a birthday. Just make sure that it doesn't say Happy Birthday anywhere and you're good.

Your invitation wording could say something like this...

"You're invited to an All Star Baby Shower by (name of host).
We are celebrating the little addition to the team.
Gather for the huddle at (address and time of shower).
Mom and the little slugger are registered at (place of registry).
RSVP to (name of host and phone number)."

Sports Baby Shower Theme Games

Really any baby shower game would work for this theme. I've tweaked a few to make them more sport related.

Mommy the Multi-Tasker

You'll need clothes line, laundry basket with baby clothes (use little jerseys, baseball hats, and sports bibs), phone, baby doll, and clothes pins.

Hang the clothes line up in the party area. You can hang baby clothes from it for your decorations and then it will be ready for the game. The player has 1 minute. She has to talk on the phone and hang up clothes while holding a baby on her hip. This is a great game. The single girls don't have a clue. See who can hang up the most clothes in the time limit.

Baby Bottle Sucking Game

You'll need baby bottles with your favorite sport theme on them for everyone.

Fill the bottles about half full with a liquid. Pop, juice, milk, water, or anything else. Don't fill them more than that. It really is quite hard. See who can empty her bottle first. Or him. This is so fun to see guys playing. Maybe if you fill the bottles with something a little stronger than pop (like beer), they'll be more apt to play. For some extra fun, you can heat the nipple up so that it closes up. No matter how hard the player sucks, they will not be able to get any out!

Candy in a Beer Bottle

You'll need a large plastic beer bottle and pink or blue candies for this baby shower game. Fill the bottle with the candies. Let everyone guess how many candies are in the bottle.

Is That Poo?

Okay, I will admit that this baby shower game is a little gross and it really doesn't have anything to do with sports. But wouldn't it be funny to see a bunch of guys sniffing "dirty" diapers. Before the shower begins you'll need to prepare for this game. Take 5 diapers and place 5 different chocolate candy bars in them (Milky Way, Butterfinger, Snickers, Hershey, Babe Ruth, ect). Melt them slightly. Have the guests guess what candy each one is.

Baby shower cakes for this sports theme are really easy. You just use a round cake pan and frost the cake in the ball of your choice.

The only one that you might need a special pan for is the football. Ball Cake Pan does make it a lot easier.

Cupcakes would be great for this theme as well. Just use sports cupcake picks. You can make your own with scrapbook paper and tooth picks.

Cut out the shape of the ball you want and hot glue onto a tooth pick. Stick in the cupcakes to tie them into this sport theme.

Ice-Cream Punch Recipe

2 quarts vanilla ice cream
1 1/2 cups cold water
1 12-ounce can of frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 1-liter bottles of Sprite, chilled
Spoon ice cream into a large punch bowl. Add water and lemonade concentrate. Stir until combined. Slowly pour in the Sprite. Stir gently.

You can add clean tiny balls of your sport choice in the punch as well.
