Ladybug Baby Shower
The Ladybug Baby Shower theme is a really cute way to welcome any little baby into the world.
All the ideas you'll need for this simple and easy shower is right here at your finger tips.
Ladybug Baby Shower Invitations
If you want homemade ladybug shower invitations, I've got a great idea for you.
You'll need...
- Black card stock
- Red card stock
- White card stock
- Black scrapbook brads
- Regular scissors
- Bubble eyes
- Decorative scissors
- White glue
- Black marker
Cut out a black circle with a bump on the top for the head with regular scissors. Cut out a white circle a little bit smaller with decorative scissors
and glue onto the black circle. Cut out a red circle the same size as the black circle and cut in half. Draw spots on the red halves. These are your wings.
Attach the wings onto the ladybug with black brads. Glue on little eyes and write all or your shower info inside.
Be sure and include the Mother's name, the host, the location of the shower, the date and time of the shower, and where the Mother is registered.
You can also include the shower theme, but I think they will probably guess with this cute invite.
Ladybug Baby Shower Decorations
Your colors for this shower are going to be red and black or pink and black. I also like to add a touches of other colors to break up all that red and black or pink and black.
Sometimes you have to use birthday supplies for showers and work around them. And that's okay. Just make sure it doesn't say Happy Birthday and you'll be alright.
You'll want to create a garden feel. Beg, borrow, and plead with family and friends for fake and real plants and trees.
Group them around the shower area. You can create vines from green streamers. Just twist together tightly and drape over doorways, lay across tables, or swag over the main shower table.
You can also use flower garlands to add flair to your shower. I like to use yellow or purple flowers for a special kick against the black and red.
Make ladybugs out of Styrofoam balls. Cut them in half and paint red. Add the black dots and pipe cleaner antennae. Stick on plant leaves and on walls with poster putty.
Butterflies add a neat touch to this shower theme. Hang from the ceiling and place here and there on plants and flowers. You can also fancy up the chandelier with flower garlands and place ladybugs and butterflies here and there.
Use fountains and twinkle lights to add that special feeling of a garden scene. Candles are also great. Place garden accent pieces in and amongst the greenery.
Use green tablecloths. For your centerpiece, purchase terracotta pots. Place florist foam in the pots. Bake flower and ladybug cookies and while they are still warm place a stick in them. Ice them and poke them in the foam.
Make a large bow and tie onto a florist pick. Poke into the foam as well. Cover the foam with green basket paper grass.
Sprinkle flower petals and butterfly pacifiers around the edible centerpiece.
You can also place ladybug balloons around the party area. Balloons are a great cheap shower decor idea.
Create a fabulous Ladybug diaper cake with these easy diaper cake instructions. Add ladybug themed items to make it fit this shower theme.
Ladybug Baby Shower Games and Activities
Ladybug Ice Cubes
Have you heard of the popular game of freezing tiny babies in ice cubes? This is the same concept except you freeze tiny ladybugs instead. Everyone gets one of the ice cubes in her drink.
The first lady to have her ladybug ice cube melt is the winner of the game. You should see some of the things women do to get it melted. Just hilarious.
Baby Memory Tray
Before the shower, prepare a tray with baby items on it. Items like...diaper, shoes, powder, clippers, bottle, rattle, pacifier, ect. You can tie in your theme by finding items with ladybugs or flowers on them and placing ladybugs and flowers on the tray. At the start of the shower, show everyone the tray. Take the
tray away and don't mention it for a while. Later on in the shower, give everyone a piece of paper and a pencil. The players must write down as many items as they can remember. The player with the most right answers, wins.
Guess Mom-To-Be's Size
Measure Mom's belly before the shower. Have everyone guess the circumference of her belly. The closest guess wins.
Printable Baby Shower Games
Printable games make the shower planning a breeze. You can get games like Baby Shower Bingo, Mad Libs, Word Scramble, Name That Baby, and many more. Makes life just a little bit easier! Print instantly.
Embellish Baby Onesies
Purchase onesies and fabric paints. Place a piece of cardboard under the front of the onesie so the paint doesn't soak through to the back.
Let the guests design the onesies with the paint. If the shower is for a girl, you can make little tu-tu's to go with the onesies. Just use colored tulle and thin elastic. You can also supply buttons and ribbons to really doll the onesies up. You can go with the ladybug theme, or not. Have the Mother judge them and give a prize to the winner.
Ladybug Baby Shower Cake
This cute as can be Ladybug shower cake is made with fondant. It's a little like playing with clay. You just roll it out and place on your cake.
Full instructions are found at our sister site, Party-Ideas-Galore.com. Check it out here.
You could also do a sheet cake and ice it with green frosting. Tint some coconut green to look like grass.
Sprinkle over cake and add fondant or plastic ladybugs. Add flowers too.
