Create a really jungle feel. Beg, borrow, and plead with friends and family for large trees and plants to fill the shower area. You can make green vines with green streamers. Just twist them together tightly.
You can also purchase vines or get them from outside. Hang the vines everywhere. Ivy garland is great for hanging as well. Just go over board on the greenery and you'll know you're doing the decorations right.
You'll also want splashes of color. Use flowers and candles to add the spark of color.
Tiki lights can add a soft glow to your shower. Place them in buckets of sand if the shower is inside.
Tulle is a great medium to use in any decorating. It's so cheap. You can get it for about $1.00 a yard. Twist and drape green tulle all over the shower area for some extra added drama. You can put twinkle lights in it and it will give you a soft glow. Just beautiful!
Centerpieces are a very important part of any shower or event, but they don't have to cost a fortune.
Balloons are always a great and cheap baby shower centerpiece. Use 3 balloons and tie to a weight. Place the weight in a jungle gift bag or tie to a plant, stuffed animal, or diaper cake.
Another idea is to place green glass rocks in a tall clear vase. Stick 3 palm prawns in the rocks. Set a cute little baby lion, tiger, or monkey beside the vase.
Jungle Baby Shower Games and Activities
Dress the Baby Animal
For this baby shower game, you'll need stuffed baby animals, baby clothes, baby shoes, baby hats, baby coats, diapers, and onesies.
Split the players into teams of 2 or 3. Give each team a baby and the same amount of clothes and baby items. Have a race to see which team can get the baby dressed the fastest. Then see who can get the baby undressed the fastest. Give prizes to the fastest team.
Place the Pacifier in the Baby's Mouth
For this baby shower game you'll need a poster size baby animal face, blind folds, and pacifier stickers.
Blind fold the player and twirl her around. Give her the pacifier sticker and see how close she can get to the baby's mouth. The closest pacifier to the baby's mouth wins the prize!
Name The Baby Animal
The players must write as many animals and their baby's names as they can think of. Some examples would include, dogs-puppies, cats-kittens, bear-cub, ect. This is much harder than it sounds.
Printable games make the shower planning a breeze. You can get games like Baby Shower Bingo, Mad Libs, Word Scramble, Name That Baby, and many more. Makes life just a little bit easier! Print instantly.
Jungle Baby Shower Cake Ideas
You'll need 2 round cakes and 2 cupcakes. You can use any flavor cake that you want. Carrot cake is one of my favorites.
Bake cakes and cool. Place one layer on a serving plate. Frost the top and add the other layer (the frosting color is determined by which cat you choose). Frost top and sides.
Cut 3/8 inch from 3 sides of the cupcakes to make triangles to resemble ears. Position "ears" and cover with frosting.
Create the "fur" with a fork. Finish the eyes, nose and, mouth with candy and icing. Just look at a child's book or coloring page for inspiration.
Another quick and easy cake idea is to bake a simple cake and layer on plastic palm trees and animals.
Cupcakes are a great idea for a baby shower as they are easier to eat. Make animal cupcakes or use plastic animals on top of plain cupcakes.
Jungle Baby Shower Food and Drink Ideas
Unless you are serving a sit down meal, a few appetizers and dips will be plenty food for a baby shower.
Some great ideas for food and drinks include...
- Flower shaped sandwiches
- Fruit kabobs
- Fruit salad
- 7 layer salad
- Veggie tray with dip
- Cheese and cracker tray
- Meat balls
- Swamp punch (make your favorite punch and add green food coloring)
Jungle Baby Shower Favor Ideas
Favors are a great way to say thank you for coming. It's a very important part of any party or shower.
Homemade lion, tiger, or monkey cookies would be a cool favor. Wrap them in cellophane and a pretty ribbon.
Animal print candles wrapped in green tulle and tied with a ribbon is another great favor idea.
