It can also be called a Mad Hatter Tea Party baby shower. Either way, you are guaranteed to have a blast putting this whacky theme in motion.
I like to focus on the tea party in the story. But you can add any elements that you choose.

You could also cut out a tea cup or a tea pot from scrapbook paper. Embellish with flowers and feathers.
Alice In Wonderland Baby Shower Decorations and Centerpieces
The decorations for this tea party need to be fun and whimsical. Choose any color scheme that you want. It doesn't have to match the story of Alice exactly.
For a more formal and elegant Alice In Wonderland shower, you can use black and white with red roses. For a fun take on this theme, go whacky with black and white, but add in bright colors. Colors like orange, hot pink, lime green, yellow, purple, ect. Have fun with it.
Place pink flamingos in the yard (remember the croquet game in the story?). This shower is best when done outside, but you can do it inside as well. Just use plants and fake trees to get that "garden" feel.
You'll want one extra long table for this shower theme. You can place two tables together and then add plywood on the top to make a long and wide table. Cover the table with a tablecloth.
Purchase all different kinds of chairs (look at Flea Markets and garage sales). Paint them in funky colors. Tall backed chairs would look great. If it's not in your budget to purchase chairs, doll up the chairs that you do have. Tie a long piece of tulle around the back and tie in a large bow. Stick flowers and feathers in the bow to embellish it further.
Hang round Chinese lanterns from the ceiling or if the shower is outside in the garden, hang them from the tree branches. Secure a stuffed Cheshire cat in one of the branches as well. Or you can draw a picture of a cat and hang that up.
For your Alice In Wonderland centerpieces you will want a variety of tea pots and tea cups (look at thrift stores and flea markets). Stack them on the table. Set a
Alice In Wonderland Classic Madhatter Hat
on a vintage hat stand. Set antique clocks on the table as well. Place a mouse in one of the tea cups. You can also add in tons of roses. Use red if you want, but remember, you don't have to follow the story. Use whatever kind of flower the Mom likes. And add in
Tea for You Mylar Balloons
as well to give it a party atmosphere.
Or start with this absolutely adorable
Tea for You Centerpiece
and then add to it.
You can use playing cards as place cards. Just use a black marker and write the guest's names on the cards. Place them in a place card holder in front of each plate. You'll also want to place a bottle at each place setting that has a tag on it that says, "Drink Me". You can use orange or red soda bottles for pretty color.
Hang chandeliers at different lengths all above the table. You can make candelabras very easy. Just purchase old chandeliers and take out all the wires. Spray paint and embellish with beads, crystals, flowers, ect. Add candles in the places that the light bulbs used to go. Such a great way to add sparkle and light to any tea party.
Another fun thing to do for this theme is flower balls. Hot glue flowers all around a Styrofoam ball. Secure a ribbon to the top with a pin and hang at different lengths.
If you want to use paper shower supplies, this
Tea for You Deluxe Party Pack
is perfect for this theme. So cute and whimsical.
Alice In Wonderland Baby Shower Games
The baby shower games for this Mad Hatter Tea Party should be fun and a little bit silly. You can take traditional baby shower games and tweak them to be whacky. I'll give you a few ideas to get you started.
Set up a game of croquet in the yard. If you are crafty you can make "soldiers" out of cardboard for the arches. Cover the balls with fake fur and add squiggly eyes for the hedgehogs. Use plastic flamingos for the mallets. Or just add a flamingo head to the end of your regular croquet mallet.
Drink Me Bottle Game
You'll need baby bottles for everyone. Place a label on the bottle that says, "Drink Me".
Fill the bottles about half full with a liquid. Pop, juice, milk, water, or anything else. Don't fill them more than that. It really is quite hard. See who can empty her bottle first. For some extra fun, you can heat the nipple up so that it closes up. No matter how hard the player sucks, they will not be able to get any out!
